Language Learner Autonomy
Autonomous
means that he does on hang on the teacher as the main source. Others define
that autonomous the they they handle themselves in acquiring knowledge. However,
this term cannot be misused by the teacher. They must keep develop the
learners’ knowledge. The way is directing and guiding. The complicated belief
and practice of autonomy becomes the main problem in implementing it. The
teachers are encouraged to be involved in their learning process, giving some
choices and promote them.
There
are many strategies that can be done. The first is the prepartion. The reacher
should give an information regarding to what they will do. Second, drawing the
class experince will give them explore more with what they have already done.
Authentic material can be used to support it. Independent inquiry means that
they have to bring something to the class. They can choose the things by
themselves. Then, the teacher should promote interactions between the students.
It can be done through grouping or seating arrangement. By grouping, pee teacheing
and peer assessment can be conducted so they will get suggestions from their
friends. The reflection should be emphasized so they know what they have done
at that day.

Critical Analysis
From
the some research, it is proved that many teachers do not recognize the
importance of autonomy. It is very crucial if the learners are not encouraged
to be independent. The term autonomous comes as a trigger for a better learning
strategy. It should be emphasized that encouraging the learners become
autonomous does not mean letting them learn all things by themselves. The teacher
should accompany them by guiding and serving options. Also, the learners cannot
be autonomous if they do not have any direction. Thus, the teacher has to tell
a certain step for them to do. It requires teachers’ ability in managing the
classroom activities and lesson stages. Thus, understanding the variables in
classroom management will help them to create autonomous learners.
